The LSEAAS cordially invites you to join us in welcoming Professor Arne Westad in his first visit to Singapore! The evening will be a great opportunity to take part in engaging discussions with Prof. Westad over a FOUR-course dinner (3+1 menu* course with red/white wines) at La Starda, Les Amis Group of Restaurants and to catch-up with friends and network with other LSE alumni, DUAL partners and friends.

About Prof. Arne Westad:

Odd Arne Westad is Professor of International History, LSE and an expert on the history of the Cold War era and on contemporary international affairs. He directs LSE IDEAS, a centre for international affairs, diplomacy and strategy which he founded with Professor Michael Cox in 2008. He lectures widely on China's foreign affairs, on Western interventions in Africa and Asia, and on foreign policy strategy. More Information

Programme Details:

Prof. Westad will be speaking about the book, Restless Empire – China and the World since 1750. When it was released in the US and UK in 2012 and made two Top-100 lists for that year. The book also won the prestigious Bernard Schwartz Book Award from the Asia Society, awarded annually for outstanding contributions to the understanding of contemporary Asia or U.S.-Asia relations.

Prof. Westad will also give an indication of his latest project; on the International History of the Cold War, and introduce the LSE's new Institute of Global Affairs.

There will also be what promises to be an engaging and spirited Q & A.
