Clearwater Sanctuary Golf Resort, Ipoh, 7-9 September 2009

The LSEAAS went on it first-ever overseas trip to Clearwater Sanctuary Golf Resort, Ipoh (Malaysia) from 7-9 September 2009.

The trip was a collaboration between the alumni associations of Singapore and Malaysia. Hosted by Dato Lee Hau Hian, Vice-President of the Malaysia Chapter, the 3-day getaway provided the 20 alumni, family and friends the perfect opportunity to reconnect with old friends, relax, share memories and network.

The trip began with some driving up via Malacca and Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh the weekend before, whilst the majority flew comfortably and efficiently by budget airline. We were each accommodated in luxurious, private and tranquil lakefront chalets.

Dato Lee, his wife, Lily and son, Yuan (all LSE alumni) hosted us to drinks, and a sumptuous BBQ dinner as the conversations flowed freely – reminiscing the fond memories at Houghton Street.

Activities during our stay included daily rounds of golf in the mornings at the award-winning 27-hold course, and visits to places of interest in Ipoh such as the Sam Poh Tong Temple (a cave temple with a large enclosure hosing tortoises), Pamelo (fruit) stalls, and local confectionary stalls. We also sampled the local speciality of bean sprouts and chicken (tauge ayam) and seafood. The sprawling resort offered many options of recreation and sport to simply unwind or work-out.

We left Ipoh richer for the experience, and look forward to a trip becoming a fixture in the annual calendar of the LSEAAS.
